As the state's largest county with miles and miles of shoreline and vast marshlands areas, Dorchester County is a sportsmen's paradise whether you enjoy bow, gun, or black powder. Outfitters and guides are available to take parties out in the field or on the waterways. Another option is to hunt with the use of permits in the wildlife management areas. Call the LeCompte WMA office at (410) 820-7098 for information and literature on these areas. Dorchester County has large populations of waterfowl including:
-
Canada geese
-
Wild turkey
-
Ducks
-
Dove
White tail deer are prevalent and Dorchester has the largest wild herd of sika deer in the state. Muskrat trapping is popular in the winter months with the annual Outdoor Show being held in February. |
