Discover breathtaking scenery along ribbons of roads to Dorchester's islands and Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge within our boundaries. Take in an awesome sunset or spot an eagle overhead as you travel through our wildlife management areas.
Enjoy self-guided walking tours of Cambridge's historic district, East New Market and Vienna. Notice the various architectural styles throughout these historic communities. These brochures are available from the Visitor Center at Sailwinds Park.
Currently, Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge has two established walking trails and is working on developing a third. The Marsh Edge Trail takes you a third of a mile along the edge of the Blackwater River, offering spectacular views of large areas of open water. This handicap accessible trail wonders through loblolly pine forests and is near the refuge's wildlife viewing blind. The Woods Trails allows you to view songbirds through their hardwood habitat. Watch for a variety of warblers and perhaps the endangered Delmarva Fox squirrel along this half-mile trail. |
